A charity drive is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to send support to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he stated. “I wouldn't be completely let down if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Featured Artists

The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in the autumn. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the performance was shelved during the concert due to time constraints.

The notable list of performers appearing on Lullaby features a selection of well-known figures from the scene. All were part of the September show, which successfully generated a considerable total for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a trio of talented individuals. The song showcases a mix of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the initiative have clarified that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These donations will be allocated to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The situation in the territory was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property described as levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a handful of millions is unlikely to make that much difference. But I think the significant factor is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and demonstrating that another narrative exists.”

The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
