Fresh Details Emerge Concerning the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Recent details have emerged concerning the tragic deaths of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their residence home on Sunday.
The Alarm
A source indicates quoting a person close to the family, a practitioner arriving for an session initially became concerned after being unable to gain access the home. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
Upon entering the residence, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her then dialed 911. Subsequently, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Legal Charges
Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of first-degree murder, along with the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is now being held and denied bail.
Clarifications
The anonymous source also disputed several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that moment.
The source also refuted published claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to reports of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts noted the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the residence. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
