Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a ex- physician has been charged with performing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
