Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his future after a further convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's worst run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points naturally but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He continued, “I accept my situation. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “In the normal discussions I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Recurring Problems and Player Reaction

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his team in their Champions League loss, namely wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder remarked.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry internally. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with results this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the world.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
